How Does the Paint Calculator Work?
Our paint calculator estimates the amount of paint required to cover a wall. It calculates the total wall area and subtracts the area occupied by doors and windows. The remaining paintable area is multiplied by the number of coats and divided by the paint coverage per litre.
Paint Calculation Formula
Paintable Area = Wall Area − Door Area − Window Area
Paint Required = Paintable Area × Number of Coats ÷ Coverage per Litre
Example
Suppose a wall is 20 feet long and 10 feet high. The total wall area is 200 square feet. After subtracting doors and windows, the remaining paintable area is calculated. If two coats are required and the paint covers 100 square feet per litre, the calculator estimates the required litres of paint.
